♡ 23rd Birthday ♡

Hey guys!
If you didn't know, yesterday was my 23rd birthday :) I hate to admit I'm getting older but hey, we all do. Yesterday morning Brandon surprised me with a breakfast FEAST! lol I loved it. He woke up earlier than me to get everything set up. When I woke up about an hour or so later he heard me coming out of the bedroom and said "Get back in there!! You can't come out yet!" lol I guess he hadn't quite finished his set up yet. Ha Finally he allowed me to come out and this is what I was greeted with. :) I thought it was the perfect way to start off any birthday.

The gift he got me was Finding Nemo. And if you know anything about me, I LOOOOVE Finding Nemo! I used to have it on DVD but I showed it so much love that it stopped working. He got me this 5 disc collection so I can watch it pretty much where ever I am.

The next gift I got for my birthday was a pink CHI from Brandon's mom. I feel like I've needed one of these of a loooong time. I seem to have pretty bad luck when it comes to hair straighteners.

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day here, we couldn't resist being outside. We drove around in the car and ended up doing a little "photo shoot." lol (can you spot him in the reflection on the car?)

While we were driving, we drove by all of these trees off to the side of the road. The grass was so beautiful. It literally is the color you see in the picture below. It's that green!!! Ugh. It was so pretty. I knew I wanted to get a picture there so we pulled over. We later found out that it was private property so we had to hurry up and get my picture taken before anyone came out of the house that was about a football field away. :P

Oh yeah, and we bought a snake. lol Brandon bought a Mexican Black Kingsnake as a classroom pet. It's really pretty. I was kinda freaked out to hold it at first but it grew on me.

Even though we didn't do anything crazy exciting for my birthday I still loved it. Sometimes it feels good to simply have a good, calm day :)

Get Ready on the Fly Video + Valentines

Hey guys!
I got a request on FB to do a tutorial on how to get ready fast. In this video, I wanted to show you how I typically get ready when I'm in a big rush (maybe I woke up late or decide to randomly go somewhere).

TIPS ON HOW TO GET READY FAST

FOR THE MAKEUP:
  • First make sure to conceal and highlight. You want to look fresh and not like you just hopped out of the bed minutes ago. Brightening around your eyes and concealing any blemishes will give you a more even complexion.
  • Next, to make the concealer last longer, set it with a translucent powder. I used my powder all over my face to combat any oiliness I may get throughout the day.
  • Now that you look like a ghost, warm up your face by contouring with bronzer. This adds definition to an otherwise flat looking face.
  • Next, add some color to your cheeks with a bright blush.
  • After, frame your face by filling in your eyebrows. This step is one of the most important.
  • Next, take an "all over" eyeshadow. For this I used a bronze cream eyeshadow and applied it from the lash line to the crease.
  • Then, I applied a highlight color to the inner corner of my eye and underneath the brow.
  • To add more definition to my eyes, I added a medium matte brown into the crease and to define my lashes I took a black eyeshadow and lined the outer lash line. This gives the appearance of fuller lashes and is much easier than fidgeting with liquid liner.
  • Make sure to curl your lashes and apply mascara.
  • Last, take a lip color you know will work with anything. Something that is so easy to apply that you really don't need to look in a mirror.
FOR THE HAIR:
  • Do something easy and fast like a pony or a messy bun. These are easy when you don't have time to straighten or curl your hair because they look good with any hair type.
FOR THE OUTFIT:
  • Choose something easy. I chose to wear a combination of neutral colors because you really can't go wrong with neutrals.
  • If you want to add a pop of color to your outfit, I suggest wearing a bright colored shoe, or jewelry.
  • Make sure that your comfortable. If you're running out the door, you don't want to worry about if you can last all day in the heels you put on or if your top is buttoned and straight.

  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Neutralizer

For Valentines Day this year, I decided to give Brandon something sweet but easy to make. I took a picture frame with a picture of us (duh!) and I filled a jar full of all the reasons why I love him. I threw in a few funny ones to keep things on the lighter side. I don't think guys like to be too overwhelmed with lovey dovey stuff. lol

This literally took ten minutes to make- including printing out the paper, cutting them into strips, folding them, and arranging everything on the counter. I think it's cute and lets them know you care in a sweet way.

How are you spending your Valentines?

Spring 2013 Trends

Spring 2013

Here are a few looks that will be trending this spring. I've seen many forms of these trends in stores such as Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, H&M, New York New York, and other similar stores. I love these looks. It seems sea foam green/mint is making a big comeback this year, as well as pieces that have intricate details like cut outs, lace, and beading.

What trends are you looking forward to this Spring?

Life Update + OOTD - Waxed Pants

Hey everyone!
I haven't posted in a while, so today I thought I'd give you a life update to let you know what I've been up to lately. I've debated on this post for a while but then came to the conclusion that this is my blog and I'm going to post what I want... even if it helps me cope with a few things. I know I typically post beauty and fashion related things (and you will find that even in this post) but I today I thought I'd get a little personal.

So, I'm just going to start...Brandon and I got into a car accident. We were going through a green light and a lady coming from the opposite direction took a left and plowed into the front driver side of my car. The air bags deployed, the windshield cracked, and the front left of my car is destroyed. We were beaten up a little and were sore from the impact but no one went to the hospital and everyone is alive and safe. The police did not file a police report and there were no "witnesses." My car is totaled and I'm still not sure if it will get fixed since I only had liability insurance on it but I still have a little hope. Here are a few pictures of my car.

These few pics are from the night of the accident.

Everything kind of flew out.

The officer gave us a ride back to the hotel in the back of his patrol car.

These pics are from the next morning at the dealership where my car was towed to.

Life sucks sometimes but you learn to deal and move on. Though, I'm pretty sure that was easily the worst day of my life. I'm just thankful that we are safe now.

So to end this with a few things not so depressing, I'll let you in on what I've been doing school wise and finally an OOTD. YAY! lol This is like 4 posts in one so maybe this will make up for the time I've been absent.

I've been super busy with school. I actually had 6 assignments to do yesterday. My LAWRD! Ugh. I'm glad that's done with.  One of my assignments I had to do this week was to create a Math center for a first grade class. I had to create all parts of the center, transport it and set it up at an Elementary school, and finally work with a student in the center.  Here's in idea of what it looked like.

I chose to do a "greater than, less than, or equal to" center. I named it Gator Math. They work in partners and read two math word problems. They record their work on the data sheet, find both answers in the stack of numbered cards, place them on the board and then choose an alligator head to determine if the first answer is greater than, less than, or equal to the second answer. I thought it was cute. lol

So for my OOTD, the other day I wore an oversized white tee with an army jacket that I paired with a simple gold necklace, black waxed jeans and plain black ballet flats. The highlight of this outfit was definitely the pants. I love them! They add an edgy feel to the look and are completely in right now.

Necklace and Waxed Pants- Target, Oversized Shirt (old) and Ballet Flats- Walmart, Army Jacket- Old Navy, Nail Polish- OPI- Number One Nemesis from the Spiderman Collection

Wish List #2

Wish List #2
Hey guys!
Here are a few things I've been dying to get my hands on!

1. Michael Kors Purse- Does this really need an explanation??? It's so gorgeous! It's a classic that will go with seriously anything! I love how structured it looks and I'm a sucker for the gold hardware details. Mmph. I love it.

2. J. Crew Turquoise Bubble Necklace- I've seen this necklace EVERYWHERE and it seems to add the perfect pop of color to any outfit. I especially love the color- It's one of my favs!

3. Oxblood Pants- I've noticed a lot of girls on Pinterest and Youtube wearing oxblood colored pants. I think they are perfect for fall and go with nearly anything. These are a great transition piece and are great for color blocking with fall colors.

4. Jeffrey Campbell 'Lita' Booties- These shoes are bad ass. I feel like you have to have serious confidence to wear these. They make a huge statement and that's why I want them.

5. Personal Microdermabrasion- I've looked at this for a while now. I've seen videos of people who have used this and have gotten great results. I personally love the way a microderm makes my skin feel- it's amazing. The only thing that has held me back from purchasing this are the reviews I've read about it. It seems like it's a hit or miss product. Some people have said that this worked only once before it broke. Honestly, it's not worth the money if it's only going to last me one use. I love the idea of this though...
