The Tangle Teezer Review

Hey guys!
About a week ago I picked up a Tangle Teezer from Sally's Beauty Supply for about $12. I had seen and heard so many great things about this brush and thought I'd give it a try. This is a handheld brush that is supposed to detangle your hair gently with less damage.

A little background on my hair- I have thin hair that easily tangles. I have always used round or paddle brushes through my hair and am definitely not tender-headed by any means. I'm used to my hair being pulled and tugged at.

As you can tell, this brush does not have a handle but is shaped in a way where it fits comfortably in your hand.

When I first used this brush, not gonna lie, it was a little weird. It glided through my hair and didn't pull at any of the tangles. I guess I'm so used to having my hair pulled at when brushing it that it was weird not to have my hair yanked at by a brush.

There are rows of alternating short and tall bristles. The bristles are actually not as stiff as what I initially thought. They give (move and bend) quite a bit. This is most likely why it doesn't pull at your hair. When it comes across a knot or tangle, it gently brushes it out little by little instead of yanking at the entire knot at one time.

This brush is also great to use as a shower brush. I had never used a brush in the shower until now. I ran this through my wet hair to evenly distribute the conditioner and it never once snagged. My hair felt incredibly soft the next day!

Overall, I really like this brush. The one thing that could be improved upon is possibly the plastic back. I feel like it can be a little awkward to hold at first so maybe if it had a slight rubbery backing it would be easier to keep ahold of it but other than that I think it's great. If you don't mind spending $12-13 on a brush, then go for it! :)

My Skin Regime Experience + GIVEAWAY! [Closed]

Hey guys!
Today I wanted to share my opinions and experience with "The Skin Regime." Dana Ramos, the author of this book, contacted me about 3 weeks ago and sent me a copy of her book and a sample glycolic peel. Her book, is a funny and short read. She explains how women everywhere spend waaaay more money on wrinkle creams and serums that don't work. She also goes into detail about which products work and which products to stay away from. She discusses how glycolic peels are beneficial for anyone and any age with nearly any skin issue.

Since I am pretty familiar with facial peels, after working at a beauty counter which offered them by appointment, I pretty much knew there was nothing to lose with trying a sample. I knew it could only improve my skin. After reading this book, I will definitely look into purchasing more glycolic peels from the companies she mentions. I mean, who doesn't want great looking skin?

Here is Dana's website. There is lots of information and other before and after pictures to check out.

Here is my clean naked face before the first peel.

This pad is pre-soaked with the glycolic acid.

Here is a close up of my skin right after I applied the peel. My skin started to sting and it itched on my neck. There was noticeable redness on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. (This is normal. It's working! :))

After I rinsed the peel off, I still felt a little lingering sting but it eased up significantly after a couple minutes. As you can see, I still had redness, and little bumps appeared on my cheeks and chin, which almost looked like a heat rash. (Again, normal)

This was the morning after. My face felt slightly tighter and my skin felt soft for the most part. There was a patch of skin along the side of my right cheek which felt like a very fine grit sand paper (It felt like skin that needed to be sloughed off with an exfoliator). The bumps disappeared and the redness was almost completely gone.
Overall, I really enjoyed doing the peel. I tried it again later with the left over glycolic I had and the sting felt nothing like the first time- it was much calmer. There also wasn't as much redness and I didn't get those little bumps.

**GIVEAWAY**
Dana has kindly offered to give one of my readers a chance to win a copy of The Skin Regime: Boot Camp for Beautiful Skin, and a sample glycolic peel. This is an international giveaway so ANYONE can enter! Good Luck! :)

DIY: Dry N Shape

Hello Everyone!
If you haven't figured out by now that I love easy DIYs, then now you know. I saw a YouTube video yesterday of this DIY. I actually had no intensions of dong it but yesterday afternoon I finished cleaning my brushes and I just so happened to remember watching that video. I checked to see if I had the stuff on hand, and in fact, I did! I was pretty excited that I didn't need to go but anything and then figured I'd make my own tutorial. So, here it is! I hope you like it and try it out for yourself. It works wonderfully! Now... if I could just think of a way to make them stand or hang upside down, it'd be perfect!

Supplies Needed:

  • Elastic
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Makeup brushes (duh!)

First, start by cutting the elastic into pieces. I cut mine in 1", 1 1/2", and 2" pieces. These seemed to fit all the brushes I wanted to use these for.

Next, fold over one small edge and put a line of hot glue.

Take the other end and layer it over the top of the strip of glue and press together firmly for a few seconds (until it dries). Avoid overspilling the glue. Make sure you can see right through the hole you created. It shouldn't be sealed by the glue.

Last, place the elastic pieces on your freshly washed makeup brushes. Slide the bottom of the brush handle through the elastic and slide the elastic piece all the way up the brush. This will ensure the bristles are straight and uniformed.

And that's it! Easy enough, right?

It literally only took a few minutes to make all of these. It's super easy! Let me know what you think or if you'll give this a try. :)

Get to Know Me: The Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hey guys!
I originally saw this post on Emily Noel's blog and thought it would be fun to do. I love this tag because it's another way for you to get to know me better. Plus, I love reading answers to other people's tags. Some people get pretty creative with their responses. lol
Let's jump in to it!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
It's naturally straight, though when I was younger I wanted it permed. Yeah... that didn't happen because I couldn't stand the smell of the chemicals in my hair!

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
Believe it or not, I've never been to a salon to color my hair. I've ALWAYS done it myself. That could be seen as a good or bad thing lol

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
No, how boring!? My style changes with the way I feel that day. Sometimes it's girly, sometimes chic, sometimes edgy... You really don't know what to expect with each day.

4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I really can't remember the last time I went to a salon for a mani/pedi. I'm such a nail polish junkie that I usually do my nails myself.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
I used to change my polish about every other day when I worked at a beauty counter bc every shade of OPI was at my disposal. Nowadays, it's about every other week.

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
I ALWAYS have polish on my toes! I hate the way naked toes look.

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
Depends... If I'm just going to the store- about 10 minutes. If I'm getting ready for work- about an hour or so.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Face. I don't like the way it looks after I've done my eyes first.

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
Collect. I definitely have more makeup than I need.

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
I used to wear them pretty often, but haven't in a while. I need to get on that...

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
No. Sometimes I just use concealer, powder foundation, blush, bronzer, mascara, and lips. I guess to some people that may seem like a full face lol Here's an idea of what I do -- Video (subscribe! :)) Then, there are times when I do a full face. You feel so put together when you have a full face on. lol

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
Not when I'm home alone but I do when I'm with my family (people other than Brandon).

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Yes, but rarely. I usually have Something on...

14. How many high-end products do you have?
I don't know the exact number but I definitely have more drugstore makeup than high-end makeup.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
If I'm going to work or somewhere other than the grocery store then I usually plan my outfit the night before. If I don't have any plans then I just grab whatever I feel like wearing and go.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
I typically carry a large handbag everyday but if I'm going somewhere where I'll be doing a lot of walking, then I'll change into a smaller messenger bag.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
During the week I typically go to sleep around 12 and wake up around 8. Over the weekend I go to bed around 2 and wake up around 10.

18. How often or when do you workout?
I almost don't want to answer this. lol I don't workout as often as I should- lets just say that.

19. Left handed or right handed?
Right.

20. How tall are you?
5'5"

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
Lol. No. I laugh because I had to take Spanish 1 twice and by the time I made it to Spanish 3, my teacher told me if I signed up to take her class for Spanish 4 she'd kick me out (if that gives you an idea of how bad I am).

22. How many pets do you have?
Currently, one. Molly. She is a Mexican Black King snake and I love her! lol I really want a dog though... and a mini pig.

Here's another picture of Molly. (Follow me while you're there!) She looks crazy with those blue eyes! lol

23. How often are you on Blogger?
Almost everyday. I like to check my blog and skim through other people's postings.

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
Yes, but only the comments that are more than "I love this!" or "Great post!" lol I'm guilty of those too, don't worry.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I usually keep a mental note. Every once in a while I'll write it on a note in my phone.

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
Well, it actually came down to a couple. I think the other name I considered was something like WalkingFashion or FashionWalks but that didn't really suit what I am truly interested in- makeup. I figured "beauty" could be a multitude of things (fashion and makeup included) so that's what I went for. I didn't want to blog about one certain thing.

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

28. How often do you clean your house?
I "pick up" everyday. I hate a cluttered house!

29. What's your favorite color?
Pink, Yellow, Mint

30. Do you swear?
Yes, but I try not to.

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
I need to figure out what I'm doing for summer school. :/

This was a long tag but it was fun! Hopefully you found out a little more about me. I tag anyone who wants to do this tag! :)

Drugstore Haul

Hey guys!
About a week or so ago I went to Walmart, Target, and Ross to pick up a few things. Some items are repurchases and some are new to me.

From Walmart:
RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum- I have never tried any RoC products until now. I saw that Roc posted a Facebook status telling people to give them your skincare questions and they would answer them. So, out of curiosity, I asked them if they could recommend something light for someone who has tiny fine lines and this is what they recommended to me. I purchased this at Walmart for $18. So far I love it! I can definitely see an improvement in my face.

Clearasil- I typically have a clear complexion, but every once in a while, I'll break out. The week before finals was HORRIBLE! I broke out pretty bad due to stress so I picked up a spot treatment to help me out. I've been using this stuff for years and think it does a pretty good job.

From Target:
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef- They had a few of these on sale for $2-3 so I picked one up. I love coral colors for the spring and summer time and this one is perfect.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara- I have never tried this mascara, but like the lipgloss, it was on sale for $3. I figured if I didn't like it, it wouldn't be a big deal. Turns out, I really do like it. A lot. I love when things like this happen!

Up & Up Shampoo- This is actually a dandruff shampoo. I don't have dandruff, but I tried this once and LOVED the way it made my hair feel! It doesn't feel like it's stripping my hair like some shampoos. Believe it or not, it makes my hair feel like its more nourished and moisturized after using it. Ever since I tried it, I haven't looked back. And for $3-4 for this HUGE bottle, why not? I would say give it a try even if you don't have dandruff but have dry hair like me. I love it.

From Ross:
Vanilla Frosting 3-in-1 Body Wash- First off, who doesn't want to smell like delicious cupcake frosting? Second, you really can't beat the price. This only cost $4 and you get a huge amount! I saw they sold another cupcake body wash like this but in a strawberry scent, but I tend to like vanilla scented things better so this is what I got. It's not anything spectacular but I do like the way it smells in the shower. :)

Have you made any recent purchases from the drugstore? If so, tell me what you got or link your post down below for me to check it out!
